646f9e108c At a desert truck stop, a gang of joyriders kidnaps a man&#39;s family and kills his brother. The local sheriff is of no help, so the man goes after them himself. A trip from Wisconsin to San Diego turns deadly for a family. Glen Lerolland and his son Rich are in one car, and Glen&#39;s brother Jack Lerolland, Jack&#39;s second wife Helen, and Jack&#39;s teenage daughter Ashley are in another car. Glen&#39;s car overheats, and the Lerollands pull off the road. They are shocked when Rich is almost hit by a car driven by a psychopath named Cliff, who has his friends Red, Tom, and Bobby in his car with him. After an enraged Glen confronts Cliff at a truck-stop, Cliff strikes back by challenging Glen to a game of chicken, which leads to Glen&#39;s death in a fiery car crash that was caused by Cliff. Cliff and his friends then kidnap Helen, Ashley, and Rich after Cliff hits Jack with a baseball bat, and leaves Jack to die. While Cliff plots to fake a highway accident to disguise the murders of his captives, Jack goes to local Sheriff Hodes for help, but winds up handcuffed in the police station,Hodes races off to pursue Cliff. Fooled by Hauser, another prisoner claiming to hold a grudge against Cliff, Jack gets left behind after helping Hauser escape. Jack manages to escape, knowing that he must rescue his family before Cliff kills them. Okay, so family on vacation that is terrorized by some local thugs while on the highway. So, what was the catalyst that led up to the events. Was it the hotheaded father (MacDonald) who acted like an ass in the diner while confronting the thug who almost ran his kid who was standing in the middle of the road down? Or was it the nubile 16 year old daughter of the other main character(lambert) who tries to seduce the same thug in the diner&#39;s bathroom after seeing him take a leak in the toilet. Granted she didn&#39;t know who was at at the time but seriously, what the you know what was she thinking?! She works the creep all up and then realizes what a mistake she made after the fact. And all because she is bored.<br/><br/>So with those scenarios on the table the movie quickly escalates to Daddy #! eventually biting the dust in a blaze of glory after being challenged to a game of chicken by the thugs in the El Dorado. The rest of our weary travelers(minus daddy #2 who is beat in the head with a baseball bat) are then taken hostage by the thugs after the main thug decides he can&#39;t leave any witnesses. After some time in a locked room thug comes to collect from nubile 16 year old, keeps herhostage while going on wild car ride with his long lost brother, and, well you&#39;ll have to watch the rest of the movie to see what happens; good luck because it&#39;s hard to find. <br/><br/>I thought the acting was okay. I liked Alexondra Lee(Party of Five, Callie)Ashley. Whatever happened to such a talented actress? She, Scheffer, Brolin, Arquette and Adrienne have more screen time that the rest of the cast so we get to know them. The ending was good. If you&#39;re looking for a good movie to waste an afternoon with try this. You can find it online if you look hard enough. Wow, I&#39;ve really found myself not being able to bring myself to care about, much less root for anyone in this ridiculous film. Not the moronic &#39;bad guys&#39;, nor the equally intelligence- deficient &#39;good guys&#39;, the latter of which was the chief person responsible for the idiotic proceedings when he refused to stay out of the middle of the road admiring a flower of all things while a car was coming.<br/><br/>Riidiculous plot aside, granted a very hard thing to overcome, the acting is sub-par. Furthermore any tension or excitement that this film might have been able to muster is rendered moot by the viewer not being able to relate to idiots.
